Firearms Division — Complete beginners through experienced shooters

Defensive Firearms

Competence, safety, and sound decision-making — for first-timers and for those who already carry.

The weapon is only as capable as the person behind it.

A firearm does not create capability.

Training does.

Too many people own firearms they have never genuinely trained to operate beyond controlled conditions. A firearm stored for protection—but never handled, manipulated, or tested under pressure—is not a defensive plan.

It is equipment without developed capability.

At ONE44 Defense, beginners start where responsible firearms training should start: safe handling, weapon function, manipulation, fundamentals, and deliberate repetition.

We remove uncertainty by building competence.

Confidence is earned through capability. There is no shortcut.

For experienced shooters and those who carry professionally or defensively, the standard changes.

Training moves beyond static marksmanship and into the conditions where performance begins to degrade: drawing from the equipment and clothing you actually wear, one-handed operation, weapon malfunctions, movement, compromised positions, elevated heart rate, decision-making, and continued operation when the first solution fails.

Because under pressure, marksmanship is only one component of the problem.

But technical skill is not the highest standard.

Judgment is.

Knowing how to deploy a firearm means very little without understanding when you may, when you must not, and what happens after the weapon is deployed.

The decision does not end when the threat ends.

The seconds immediately afterward matter.

Your communication matters.

Your actions matter.

Your articulation matters.

The legal and personal consequences matter.

Anyone can teach mechanics.

Responsible firearms training develops the judgment, discipline, and capability required to know when those mechanics should—and should not—be used.

That is the standard at ONE44 Defense.

Advanced Training & Simulation

Train beyond the range.

Traditional firearms training develops essential mechanics.

  • But a stationary target does not communicate.
  • It does not move through your environment.
  • It does not force you to make decisions.
  • It does not place your family behind you.
  • It does not create uncertainty.
  • And it cannot teach judgment.

ONE44 Defense bridges the gap between firearms proficiency and responsible decision-making through advanced simulation, reality-based training, and controlled scenario development.

Students are challenged to observe, communicate, move, evaluate, exercise restraint, make decisions, and perform under controlled pressure.

Because knowing how to fire a weapon is only one part of knowing how to protect life.

01

Simunition

Reality-based / force-on-force training

Paper targets teach mechanics.

People create decisions.

ONE44 Defense will incorporate Simunition and other appropriate marking-cartridge systems into controlled reality-based training environments.

Force-on-force training introduces another human element into the exercise, requiring students to process changing information instead of simply executing a predetermined shooting drill.

Depending on the course, scenarios may challenge:

  • Threat recognition
  • Shoot / no-shoot decision-making
  • Communication
  • Verbal commands
  • De-escalation
  • Movement
  • Positioning
  • Use of cover
  • Family-protection decisions
  • Home-defense scenarios
  • Vehicle-based scenarios
  • Low-light decision-making
  • Multiple-person environments
  • Stress management
  • Post-incident decision-making
  • Performance under controlled pressure

The goal is not simply to determine whether someone can successfully engage a target.

The goal is to determine whether the student can recognize when engagement is necessary in the first place.

All reality-based and marking-cartridge training is conducted within controlled training environments using applicable safety protocols, required protective equipment, equipment inspection, participant briefings, designated training equipment, and qualified instructor supervision as applicable.

02

Advanced VR

Immersive decision training

ONE44 Defense will utilize advanced virtual-reality firearms simulation to create immersive, repeatable scenarios that go far beyond traditional target shooting.

VR allows instructors to place students into complex environments where circumstances can evolve based on the decisions they make.

A scenario may require a student to:

  1. Observe.
  2. Communicate.
  3. Move.
  4. De-escalate.
  5. Protect.
  6. Disengage.
  7. Or act.

Not every scenario should end with a trigger being pulled.

That is the point.

Sometimes the correct response is engagement.

Sometimes it is communication.

Sometimes it is movement.

Sometimes it is creating distance.

Sometimes it is protecting another person.

Sometimes it is doing nothing at all.

Judgment is a skill.

And judgment can be trained.

Advanced VR scenarios may be used to develop and evaluate:

  • Threat identification
  • Situational awareness
  • Decision-making
  • Communication
  • De-escalation
  • Reaction time
  • Stress management
  • Environmental awareness
  • Family-defense decisions
  • Home-defense decisions
  • Low-light judgment
  • Scenario articulation
  • Post-scenario evaluation

After appropriate scenarios, instructors may conduct structured after-action reviews to discuss what the student observed, why decisions were made, what alternatives existed, and where performance can improve.

03

Training Systems

Controlled skill development

ONE44 Defense will incorporate dedicated training guns, certification guns, inert training platforms, and other purpose-built non-live-fire systems where appropriate.

These systems allow instructors to isolate skills, introduce scenarios, evaluate movement and decision-making, and conduct repetitions without requiring every training evolution to involve live ammunition.

Training systems may support:

  • Firearms fundamentals
  • Safe handling
  • Presentation and manipulation
  • Movement
  • Communication
  • Scenario development
  • Decision-making
  • Partner exercises
  • Family-protection concepts
  • Simulation
  • Skill evaluation

Dedicated training platforms are not live firearms. They are purpose-built, non-live-fire equipment used only inside instruction, and they are handled, stored and identified separately from live weapons.

Live fire + simulation

Build the skill. Test the decision.

Simulation does not replace firearms fundamentals.

It exposes whether those fundamentals remain available when the environment becomes more complicated.

ONE44 Defense combines technical firearms development with increasingly complex training environments so students can progress from learning a skill to applying it responsibly.

  1. Foundation

  2. Live-fire fundamentals

  3. Skill development

  4. VR simulation

  5. Reality-based / force-on-force

  6. Decision-making under pressure

  7. Evaluation

  8. Mastery

Scenario training

The target doesn't always tell you what to do.

Traditional shooting drills generally begin with the student already knowing that they are supposed to shoot.

Real-world decision-making does not provide that luxury.

ONE44 Defense scenarios are designed around uncertainty.

Students may encounter situations where the correct response is:

  • Engage
  • Disengage
  • Communicate
  • Move
  • Create distance
  • Protect another person
  • Seek cover
  • Call for help
  • Or take no force-based action at all

The objective is not to reward aggression.

It is to develop judgment.

After-action review

Every repetition should teach something.

Scenario training should not end when the scenario ends.

Where appropriate, instructors will conduct an after-action review examining factors such as:

  • What did you see?
  • What did you miss?
  • What information influenced your decision?
  • Did you communicate?
  • Did you create unnecessary risk?
  • What other options were available?
  • Could the situation have been resolved differently?
  • What would you change if you encountered the scenario again?

Mistakes made in training can become lessons.

Lessons become experience.

Experience becomes better judgment.

Credentials

Certificates & certifications

These are two different things, and the difference matters. ONE44 Defense will always state plainly which one you are receiving.

ONE44 Defense certificate of completion

Issued by ONE44 Defense to record that a student attended and completed a specific course. It documents training received. It is not an independent professional certification, a licence, or a qualification issued by any outside body, and ONE44 Defense will never present it as one.

Third-party / industry certification

Issued by an outside organization under that organization's own standards, testing and renewal requirements. Where an instructor holds a credential of this kind, it will be listed below with the issuing organization named, so that it can be checked.

Additional instructor, simulation, and specialty credentials will be displayed as programs and certifications are completed.

Who it is for

Private & group training.

Advanced simulation supports different training environments. Where legally and professionally appropriate, that may include:

  • Responsible armed citizens
  • Families
  • Private groups
  • Church security / safety teams
  • Business / organizational safety teams
  • Professional clients

Every engagement is built around responsible protection, preparedness, communication, and decision-making.

Core philosophy

You do not rise to the occasion. You default to your highest level of mastery.

ONE44 Defense is not interested in creating students who simply know how to shoot.

We train people to observe.

To think.

To communicate.

To decide.

To exercise restraint.

To protect.

And when circumstances truly demand it, to act decisively.

Because the ability to protect life carries an equally serious responsibility to understand when force should — and should not — be used.

Skill without judgment is incomplete.

Capability without discipline is dangerous.

At ONE44 Defense, we train both.

What it is built on

  • God above all.
  • Family worth protecting.
  • Strength with restraint.
  • Capability with responsibility.
  • Courage without ego.
  • Training with purpose.

Our understanding of protection begins with the value of human life.

Strength is not permission to be reckless.

Capability creates responsibility.

Discipline matters. Restraint matters. Courage matters. Character matters.

And ultimately, we remain accountable to something greater than ourselves.

ONE44 Defense exists to develop capable protectors whose strength is governed by discipline, judgment, responsibility, and purpose.

Safety

Real training. Controlled environment.

Advanced firearms and reality-based training requires uncompromising safety standards.

ONE44 Defense simulation and force-on-force programs are conducted within designated training environments using applicable safety procedures, participant briefings, required protective equipment, equipment controls, instructor supervision, and course-specific prerequisites.

Specific requirements vary by program and are covered in full before any student takes part.

The first time you face the decisionshouldn't be when everything is on the line.

Build the fundamentals.

Develop the judgment.

Test the response.

Find the weakness.

Train it again.
